Evidence-informed support that focuses on understanding behaviour, improving quality of life, and reducing the need for restrictive practices.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred therapy framework. Rather than focusing only on what someone does, PBS asks why — and works with participants, families, and support teams to create environments where everyone can thrive.
At Ngara Care, our behaviour support is delivered with cultural respect, patience, and a deep commitment to upholding the dignity, choice, and rights of every participant.
We work collaboratively. The participant, family, support workers, and other allied professionals are all part of the team. We focus on:
PBS may be helpful for NDIS participants who experience behaviours of concern that affect their safety, relationships, or ability to take part in everyday life. Funding is typically captured under Improved Relationships in your NDIS plan.
We meet to understand the participant, the family, and what's been happening.
A Functional Behaviour Assessment helps us understand what behaviours are communicating.
We co-design a behaviour support plan with practical, doable strategies.
We coach families and support workers to use the plan consistently.
Regular check-ins to see what's working and what needs adjusting.
We update the plan as new skills are learned and quality of life improves.
Reach out to our team to discuss whether PBS could be a good fit for your situation.
